Accurate diagnosis of a cerebrovascular accident is crucial to prevent morbidity, mortality and functional loss. A case report involving a visual field defect secondary to a bilateral parieto-occipital cortex infarct is discussed. 1981-09-01 My recent MRI of my brain shows an "old lacunar infarct of the LEFT occipital lobe." 7 years ago the LEFT lateral border of my tongue started burning. This was after I had a total dental revision where all the dentistry in my mouth was removed and replaced without metals. The procedure was very stressful and took 8 1/2 hours.

The occipital lobe is the seat of most of the brain's visual cortex, allowing you not only to see and process stimuli from the external world, but also to assign meaning to and remember visual perceptions. The occipital lobe is also responsible for analyzing contents, such as shapes, colors, and movement, and also for interpreting and drawing conclusions about the images we see. Boundaries, Anatomy, Position, and Structure of the Occipital Brain Lobe. The boundaries of the occipital lobe include the edges of the parietal and temporal lobe.

RESULTS: Hemianopia, visual hallucinations, and non-occipital deficits without extraoccipital lesions on MRI, are described and discussed. CONCLUSIONS: Hemianopia, due to an occipital infarct, without alexia, is not a disability which precludes a normal professional career.

Abstract. To clarify the clinical features and mechanism of infarction in the posterior cerebral artery territory, we investigated 35 consecutive patients who presented with homonymous visual field defects and occipital infarction documented by computed tomography. Cerebral angiographic findings in 23 patients, and the clinical features of rare 2018-11-01 occipital infarct. Although right ICA angiography did not fill the right PCA, this resulted from poor transmission of the arterial pulse pressure beyond the high-grade ICA stenosis.

Since I am new to this, I am wondering of any of you can explain what a "chronic brain infarct" is? My MRI report indicated that I have one and that I have no mass or mass effect which I guess is good news. My eeg showed abnormal activity. I am now awaiting an appointment with a neurologist

A longstanding infarct appears as an area of low density of grey and white matter in a vascular territory of the brain. A cerebral infarct is an ischemic stroke, a sudden loss of circulation to an area of the brain that results in an acute loss of cerebral function.
